LOS ANGELES, CA & PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA (WEDNESDAY
NOVEMBER 9, 2011) - Cambodian and
American rock band DENGUE FEVER (www.denguefevermusic.com)
announced today that its previously announced South East Asian “Electric
Mekong” tour, has all confirmed dates, cities, and venues for this November. This is the band’s third tour of the
region in its career.
Dengue Fever is
touring the region with the cooperation and support of the U.S. Department of
State, U.S. Embassies in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, and local promoter in
Cambodia, Dickon Verey, after receiving the prestigious Arts Envoy grant,
designed to share American Culture around the world. Previously, the band performed in Cambodia and Vietnam, but
this trip marks its debut in Laos. Tour dates are as follows:

“Through the Arts Envoy Program of the Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Affairs, the U.S. Department of State is pleased to bring the rock
band Dengue Fever back to Southeast Asia,” said Acting Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific
Affairs, Thomas Hodges. “The U.S. Embassies
in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are looking forward to working with the Los
Angeles-based band this month on their Electric Mekong Tour. The band
will do a variety of shows and conduct workshops with local musicians in order
to foster goodwill, engage foreign audiences and provide insight into American
culture and values.”
In April of this year,
Dengue Fever released its fourth full-length album, Cannibal Courtship for
Concord Music Group/Fantasy Records. The band has toured the United States, France, and England in
support of the record. In fact,
the band was invited by The Kinks’ Ray Davies to perform at his 2011 Meltdown
Festival, which he curated, as well as making their sold-out Paris debut and
second Glastonbury performance. The band is in the process of confirming tour
dates in the U.S. and Europe for 2012.
Later this year,
Dengue Fever will launch their own record label and online store, for the
purpose of releasing their long out-of-print back catalog with additional bonus
tracks and new merchandise for fans. Currently, the band is sifting through
outtakes, live tracks, radio shows, alternative tracks and more to expand their
back catalog for digital and physical release.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will have to postpone our 3 upcoming dates in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Austin next week. But fear not, we will be making up those dates sometime in 2012. Apologies to all and thanks for the continued support.

KCRW’s killer Halloween bash Masquerade returns on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 9pm to 2am at the Legendary Park Plaza with special performances from LA’s own Dengue Fever and Mariachi El Bronx, as well as New York indie rockers Milagres and a DJ set from Portland via Portugal RAC founder Andre Allen Anjos.
Tickets to the event are selling fast and can be purchased online here: http://www.kcrw.com/masquerade
Expect dancefloor-filling sets from KCRW’s own Music Director Jason Bentley (Coachella, Pacific Festival, HARD), Henry Rollins, Raul Campos, Jeremy Sole and nine other KCRW DJs as well as a sea of sounds, visuals and revelry unlike any other party in town.
Attendees will experience “Melting Rainbows”, a visual hallucination performed by artist Aaron Axelrod, and encounter the outlandish antics of vaudeville circus troupe Lucent Dossier throughout the haunted hotel. L.A.'s finest storytellers will enchant with tales of the macabre in the haunted bridal suite and five of our favorite food trucks will hold court on the back lot: The Border Grill Truck, The Grilled Cheese Truck, The Buttermilk Truck, Lake Street Creamery and Lardon Truck.
The costume ball and dance party has sold out every year and was dubbed “best party of the year” by LA Snark. KCRW credits our incredibly creative attendees - whose costumes are some of the best you’ve ever seen – with making this a can’t-miss event on a busy holiday weekend.
The event is 21 and over and all tickets are general admission. Proceeds for the event support KCRW.
